Kelley + Chris

Having time constraints on your wedding celebration can be a bit of a bummer. You only have a few hours after the ceremony to mingle with all your guests, and the day goes by so fast! Enter, the idea of a wedding weekend.

Multi-day celebrations are not unheard of by any stretch of the imagination, and our couple today took the idea in an emerging direction. They rented out a local YMCA camp for an entire weekend of festivities and fun with all their guests. Kelley and Chris were married in an outdoor chapel on the property among the redwoods, and their reception was in the mess hall. The decor for the day was created and executed by the couple, their family, and friends.

Oh man. This wedding. There is some major swooning happening up in here right now. A groom who made the invites, a first look on a covered bridge, a vintage car, window seating chart, AND it’s a whole lot of bridal do-it-yourself goodness? I just can’t handle it. Add into the mix some fabulous photography, and I’m just lost in all the sunshine, bright colors, and beauty of Amanda and Aaron’s church ceremony with ballroom reception.

Ahhhhh, love. It may be the hold-over of warm fuzzies from Valentine’s Day last week, but I’m feeling rather romantic today. Which is fitting, because the couple and wedding we’ve lined up for you on this lovely Tuesday are romance personified.

Charlynn and Caleb had a stunning outdoor ceremony and reception that honored their love for each other as well as Caleb’s career with the Air Force. What stunned me especially was how the couple pulled off a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme without going overboard – it’s a very hard line to walk and come out on the enchanting side. They used bird and airplane accents throughout the decor with aplomb, and mixed patterns to create a rustic feel.

Eva + Gary

Happy Friday! Congratulations to all the couples who got engaged this week, and welcome to DIY Bride!

Today we have the wedding of Eva and Gary, and it was truly an international affair. Since the bride is from Iceland, the ceremony was in English and Icelandic, and favors for the guests were pieces of lava rock from the Eyjafjallajokull eruption. The florals were arranged and assembled by the bride and her attendants on the eve of the wedding using flowers shipped from Ecuador and placed in vases found around the house. The menu for the wedding was a labor of love, created and prepared by close friends of the bride, and the fish for the reception was purchased on the morning of the nuptials from a local dock.

Clare + John

Happy Valentine’s Day! While I’m only marginally excited by the rampant red and pink that explodes on February 14th, I do get all giddy about an extra-special day to celebrate love. Whether it be between spouses, couples, siblings, or friends – it’s always a good day to tell someone you love them!

Today we have the wedding of Clare and John who had do-it-yourself details coming out of their ears for their vintage Alice in Wonderland nuptials. The bride and her mother each made their own dresses, the mens’ ascots, and all the decor. For the reception everything adhered to a tea party theme, and the bride could be see dancing barefoot with her groom on the venue’s bridge for their first dance.

Erin + Eric

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’ve got some major DIY wedding love coming your way today and tomorrow. To kick off the week we have the wedding of Eric and Erin, and to say love was in the air is an understatement. Pink flowers, pink lighting, and even pink flower girl dresses created an atmosphere of sweetness, and the DIY projects for the ceremony and reception lend a personal touch to the day.

Kady + Matthew

Before we even get to the DIY loveliness of this wedding, I want to take a minute and draw attention to the huge smile Kady has in all these pictures. When we first received this submission, I was just so taken with all the smiles of the bride, groom, their family, and friends that I completely stopped everything else I was doing. Scrolling through the pictures, it’s like the love and happiness just jumps off the page and smothers you in kisses. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, featuring Kady and Matthew’s wedding is a great step to getting in the spirit of love.

Madeleine + Matthew

It may be because I live in Portland which is one of the  most bike-friendly cities in the country, but the wedding of Madeleine and Matthew and its tandem bike stationery makes my heart sing. The biking elements contributed to an overall theme of New England country in autumn, and the families of the couple came together to help decorate their wedding site on the day of the wedding. They used wildflowers picked the day before to create the floral arrangements and bouquets, and fresh apples were used for seating assignments.

Ashley + Wally

Cowboy boots, horses, s’mores, and mason jars created a rustic country feel for Ashley and Wally’s wedding at home. They had an intimate ceremony at the home, with a self-catered reception, cupcakes for dessert, and a s’more pit to end the night. Ashley created her bouquet from flowers purchased at the supermarket, and mason jars were set up for guests to personalize with their name for the evening. They were also blessed with a mason jar chandelier for their wedding from a friend as a wedding present to pull together the components of the day.

Brady + Lindsey

Today’s wedding is one heck of a southern party. Lindsey and Brady were married in the groom’s family church with a reception at the home of Brady’s parents. It’s well known that I’m a sucker for a good backyard wedding, and Lindsey and Brady’s reception looks like too much fun for words. With a vintage country vibe working for their reception, the little touches really make it come together – not to mention I think the “Ladies and Gents” portable bathroom station is one of the coolest ideas I’ve ever seen.
