HaDO: Refurbished Gifts To Wedding Party?

::::: Help a DIYer Out is a regular column where you, our dear readers, may ask our community for their help or opinions on wedding or craft-related issues that are important to you. :::::

Caitlin is asking for opinions on this interesting dilemma:

My DF and I want to give our small wedding party e-readers as thank you gifts. We recently found $99 e-readers on a shopping site and thought PERFECT! but they (the e-readers) are refurbished. Is it tacky to give a refurbished item as a gift? They come with a 90-day warranty and are supposed to be as good as new.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay on refurb tech gadgets for gifts?

The Seventh of October

Jason and I were married 10 years ago on this day!

What I remember most about our wedding was being ridiculously happy and sharing that over-the-top level of joy with our friends and family. Our wedding day was euphoric – not because of the swell location and good food or the nifty handmade goodies or the pretty dress – it was because there was a foundation of love and a circle of people around us who were genuinely happy to share in our joy.

Today I want to thank our friends and family for supporting us, lifting us up, providing sage counsel, safe refuges, and the occasional butt-kicking when we’ve needed it. For the unconditional love, for honoring us as individuals, for sharing in our triumphs and celebrating our union, I am forever and deeply thankful.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in these 10 years is that marriage doesn’t just bond two people together, it brings whole communities together. That’s rather profound, isn’t it? I don’t think that’s talked about enough in our society, especially in terms of marriage equality and “family values” debates.

Jason and I have been strengthened by you, our community of friends, family, and acquaintances. We thank you with the utmost sincerity for your continued support, friendship, and guidance.

L Letterpress Quality Issues

Hey DIYers,

I’ve heard from 3 different DIY Bride readers over the last few days that the L Letterpress is having some quality issues with the plates. Apparently they’re cracking too easily.  Some stores are pulling the plates (Paper Source has been mentioned specifically). If your plate cracks, please contact the store where you bought the plates to get a replacement.

I hope Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts issues a statement soon.

{Edit to add: Users at the QK forums (mother company of Lifestyle Crafts) are reporting problems, too.}
