Emily + Michal
The photographer who submitted this wedding to us called the nuptials of Emily and Michal “a whimsical autumn wedding among the redwood trees,” and it is the best description of the day. I love featuring a wedding where the love is so palpable, the DIY details so abundant, and the venue so stunning.

This wedding makes me swoon. Full-on, hand-over-heart, big-sigh swoon. Ashli decided to light the ceremony and reception with candlelight to evoke romance and a soft feel, and the result is amazing. Shopping locally for everything, she created the florals, the favors, and the gifts for her bridesmaids. She sewed lace sleeves onto her dress (found at a consignment shop along with her veil!) for a more vintage vibe.

Kris and Camille were married in an outdoor setting in the gorgeous woods of California at Camp Augusta, and the entire gallery of photos from their day is stunning. Going for a casual and laid-back vibe, Camille and Kris created packages of s’mores as favors for their guests, Camille’s aunt designed and assembled all the floral elements of the day, and they had a friend make their wedding cake. The ceremony was in the middle of the trees, and after the reception began to wind down all the guests moved outside to the fire pit for more dancing, live music, and s’more roasting.

Sometimes it’s the classic, clean elements of a wedding that really make everything come alive. In the case of Alex and Sara, who went with a vintage vibe for their wedding, the details were able to keep their love for each other at the center of the day. While many of the antiques were sourced from Alex’s mother, Sara created granola for the out-of-town guests, the bird place cards, and ordered personalized stickers from Etsy for the cookie bags. Alex also spent the days before the wedding wrapping all the trees with lights!

On my first official day as the Real Weddings intern, I wanted to showcase a beautiful wedding from my home state of Oregon. In the words of photographer Sara Gray, “Brooke and Galen decided to do things a little differently – they went to a covered bridge they loved in college and exchanged vows in front of family and friends at this simple elopement ceremony.”
The bride and groom were married in front of the Goodpasture Bridge in Eugene. It is one of the longest covered bridges in Oregon, as well as one of the oldest at 73 years old. After the vows, they toasted their new marriage with their party of eight. What I adore about this wedding is the love that jumps off the page. This wedding feels so organic, rich, and full of happiness. Which is what weddings are all about. Enjoy.
