Hey DIYers,

There’s a big, fat omission in the directions/illustrations for the Couture Silk Invitation in The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects For Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding on pages 35 – 41.

It looks like the cutting diagram and info for the pocketfold are missing. If you follow the book directions, you’ll make a pocket fold that’s 6″ wide x 9 1/4″ long. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

The finished size is should be 4 1/8″ x 9 1/4.

So, once you laminate the fabric to the cardstock for the pocket fold, you’ll need to trim the laminated piece to 8 1/4″ wide, not 12″ as demonstrated in the book.

This also affects the insert sizes. Wherever the directions call for 4 1/4″ width (either cutting or MS Word settings), that needs to be changed to 4 1/8″ (4.125″).

I do most sincerely apologize for any confusion this has caused! I know how frustrating incorrect directions can be.

Hey DIYers,

For those of you who have the DIY Bride book in your hands, I wanted to let you know that the instructions for projects that involve MS Word are written specifically for PC-based versions of Word. Because there are different operating systems and versions of Word currently in use by the general population, the instructions may not match up exactly with your version of Word. They should be pretty close.

Mac users, you’re not left out! I actually wrote the book (and the projects) on a Mac. I can help you out if you have Mac-specific questions about any of the Word-based projects. Just email me via the contact form or check the forums for Q & A regarding Mac instructions.

Is your wedding looming and you’ve got that “not so crafty” feeling? Maybe you’re all thumbs when it comes to diy projects or perhaps you’ve just lost your wedding craft mojo. Chin up, my friend! The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your One-of-a-Kind Wedding is the cure for what ails you. And I’m giving it away for free. That’s right. I’m giving one fabulous DIY Bride reader a copy of the book.

“Is there a catch?” I hear you say. Heck yeah, there’s a catch!

Because I want to get this book into the hands of the craft-phobic and the decidedly uncrafty, I’m giving away this copy to the person who submits the best “worst crafting experience” story. So, tell me all about your crafting mishaps or nightmares and why you need help. Since the purpose of the book is to show you how easy it really is to create wedding awesomeness, the person who has the story that appeals to me most will be among the first get her/his hands on the book.

Submit your story by December 27th via the Contact Form. Please include your email address! Be funny. Be serious. Be original. Be yourself. One entry per person, please.
