New Job Opening: Ad Sales Manager
We’re on the hunt for the perfect candidate to join the DIY Bride family. We are looking for an ad sales associate to help make 2013 our best year yet!
Our online ad sales associate is responsible for:
Locating potential new advertisers
Closing ad deals
Maintaining positive, happy relationships with our current advertisers
Keeping ad sales records and creating weekly/monthly reports
Maintaining ad materials across all of our publications and ventures
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of and a passion for wedding blogs, wedding industry, and craft industry
- An upbeat, positive personality
- Flawless phone etiquette
- Strong written communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of social media
- Comfortable with cold calling and researching new leads
- Ability to guide and manage a small team of ad sales persons
Working knowledge of ad networks

Our new sister site, Love & Cherish (formerly The Wedding Sampler) has an opening for a client services intern/volunteer. We’re looking for someone to maintain and curate our list of contributor-contacts, handle delivery scheduling, and other small administrative tasks.
The duties of the CSI:
- Curate and maintain our list of potential partners
- Schedule product deliveries to L&C
- Coordinate information with the DIY Bride sales team
- Utilize social media and the blog to generate interest and drive traffic to the website
The ideal candidates will have:

- Some experience with blogging and social media

If you’re more technically inclined than crafty, perhaps our editing positions will suit you best. We’re recruiting a few techies to help out in the following ways:
• Build Galleries. We’re looking for a few good people to curate our images into drool-worthy inspiration galleries of wedding crafts, flowers, and wedding fashion trends. If you love building inspiration boards, have your finger on the pulse of wedding trends and styles, please reach out. Experience working with WordPress 3.2 and above is desired.
• Curate Content. This task takes a high attention to detail, the ability to edit in WordPress, and basic SEO knowledge. We have a long list (100+) posts that need scrubbed and shined to perfection. If you have editing experience, or want to gain editing experience, we’re happy to hear from you. You’ll be exposed to the back end of the website and learn how this whole thing works.

- Comfortable following style guides for blogs

Candidates will create image galleries from current content on our site. This is a very easy task (each gallery page will likely take just a few minutes to create) and is best suited to someone who doesn’t mind spending hours looking at pretty wedding images.

DIY Bride will begin offering online classes to our site members and general readership. We are seeking experienced professionals -or those with significant practical experience – who can bring the best wedding- and craft-related content to our readers.
What We’re Looking For
DIY Bride is unique in that we cover two very different industries: crafts and weddings. This allows us to offer a broad range of topics that fit the needs of our community.
Currently, we’re accepting for consideration classes and seminars in the following areas:
Weddings
• Any comprehensive wedding planning courses (i.e. “How to plan a DIY wedding from start to finish”, “How to plan a wedding in 90 days”, “Budget Weddings Under XX,XXX Dollars”).
Crafts
• All areas of wedding-related crafts are open for consideration. Paper crafting, cake making, sewing, jewelry-making, floral design, decorative painting, and graphic design topics are all high on our list.
Teacher Qualifications
• We ask that each instructor has verifiable experience in his/her area of interest.
• At this time we’re seeking instructors in the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area so that we may facilitate the filming and editing locally. We will consider out-of-area applicants who have prior experience and expertise creating digital courses.
• All class instructors are expected to interact with and answer questions from their students in our online class area. To be fair to our students, we ask that instructors commit to at least 5 hours a week for ongoing classes. Seminars and workshops, at least 3 hours in the week post-seminar for follow-up questions.
All instructors are paid in US dollars via PayPal or check based on a percentage of revenue each class generates.

We’re looking for fun, creative candidates who can report on wedding music trends, suggest songs and resources, create playlists for ceremonies and receptions, and help our readers get their groove on with their wedding music.

- DIY-friendly
- Comfortable working with (and possession of their own copy of) Photoshop or other imaging software
- Reliable, friendly, good with follow-up and follow-through, organized and self-motivated.
- Expert knowledge of iTunes, Pandora, Spotify and other online music sites.
- Gadget-friendly (iPod, iPad, laptops, apps, other music players)
This is a revenue-share position.
