Wow, this is great. I've been looking for DIY goodies bag for....my son's birthday party (not even wedding related). But I guess a wedding is just a bigger version of a birthday party. Thank you. Love the link.

PS love your site.

Hi Mary, my best guess is that the screen was removed from the Yudu machine and the items with non-flat surfaces were rolled on the under side of the screen.

In the advertising, they show 3-dimensional projects like surfboards, skateboards, vases, etc. Having used the Yudu, do you know how these things are accomplished when these objects don't fit on the platen? Please e-mail me if possible. Thanks.

I recommend that you seek sound financial advice from reputable sources such as the FTC: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/homes/rea04.shtm. A wedding forum isn't the proper place to seek mortgage advice. And, yeah, don't try to spam my comments. Your link has been removed.

I had a similar problem within a year of purchase with a Brothers All-in-One. It was still under extended warranty and they replaced the print head. Again, with in a year it happened again. This time, they had changed the insurance covering exempting the print head from coverage (gee, I wonder why). So I purchased a print head and installed it and the same thing kept happening. So I have a machine that I can fax from and scan to save on my machine, but can't print a darn thing.
The best printer I've ever purchased (2000), which is still printing great, is a HP PhotoSmart P1000. It prints anything that you toss at it. Plus, the high yield cartridges you can get for it are great for a heavy user. I've purchased other printers years years after this one that haven't lasted.
Thank for your update!

I disagree on some key points in your comment. I think the some of the "big" companies that are offer wedding products are indeed offering overpriced and cookie-cutter products because they have no competition. The only way to get better, more innovative/stylish options is for new companies to get in the game. There are a lot of manufacturers who offer products that are PERFECT for the wedding community but they're not reaching us in their marketing and distribution. I know of some companies, for example, that make gorgeous papers for scrapbookers. These same papers would be ideal for ridiculously stylish invitations, programs, table numbers, etc. When I say the wed crafters are underserved it's a just as much of a statement about marketing as it is wed-specific product.

I disagree that the products would have the wedding markup. Some companies would try, sure, as that sometimes happens in the industry but it's not the norm with reputable vendors. Not everyone in the wed industry is out to screw the consumer. There are great people and companies who fight against that stigma every day because of the actions of a few.

I think the reason why so many people do DIY in weddings is because everything geared towards weddings are over priced and cookie cutter. I think DIY Weddings is in under served market because it wouldn't work. If I went to the store and bought another wedding product it wouldn't be my own or specific for my wedding. Plus the mere fact that it has "wedding" attached to it will up the price by no less than 15%!
