Jessica asked us where she could find that lovely staple of vintage weddings, the mason jar, on the cheap and in bulk.

Hey Khris, I’m looking for 140-ish mason jars for table and stair decor at our reception. I’ve been stalking Craigslist and local 2nd hand stores but can’t find anything in my price range. One vintage reseller in my area was asking $3.00 per jar!! Know of any places I can find them for less than a dollar for a quart size?

Sure! The quart size is a little harder to find than the 16 ounce, especially for $1.00 or under but… here ya go!

HaDO: Refurbished Gifts To Wedding Party?

::::: Help a DIYer Out is a regular column where you, our dear readers, may ask our community for their help or opinions on wedding or craft-related issues that are important to you. :::::

Caitlin is asking for opinions on this interesting dilemma:

My DF and I want to give our small wedding party e-readers as thank you gifts. We recently found $99 e-readers on a shopping site and thought PERFECT! but they (the e-readers) are refurbished. Is it tacky to give a refurbished item as a gift? They come with a 90-day warranty and are supposed to be as good as new.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay on refurb tech gadgets for gifts?

Help A Reader Out: Hot Air Balloon Theme

DIY devotee, Ann, needs some help with her hot air balloon themed wedding. I thought I’d turn this one over to you awesomely creative people.

… My fiance proposed to me on a hot air balloon last March.  We are trying to continue this by making the theme of the wedding hot air balloons.  My sister is a graphic designer and is making all of our stationary with a beautiful monogram/logo using a hot air balloon and our names.  We are getting married at a pretty formal reception hall, so we know that the decorations need to match the formality of the room.  We have been thinking of finding rice paper lanterns made to look like balloons.  We would light all of the lanterns with candles or battery operated lights.  I am having so much trouble finding plain or light blue rice paper balloon lanterns.  Any idea where I could get them  or any other ideas for centerpieces using that theme?
Thanks for your help!

Can you help Ann out with centerpieces, lantern sources, and other hot air balloon inspiration?
