Day 9 Giveaway A Day: Win DIY Bride "The Crafty Countdown"

In honor of DIY Bride’s 8th anniversary, we’re celebrating with one giveaway a day from August 29 until September 29.

Contest Closed. Congrats to Melissa!

The last book giveaway was so much fun I’m doing it again. A lot of you seemed to already own one of my two books and were hoping for a chance to win the one you didn’t have. Well, here’s your chance!  Today I’m offering up a copy of my first book, The DIY Bride: The Crafty Countdown.

Book Description:

Today’s average wedding costs $20,000, so the appeal of doing it yourself has never been greater. And crafty and creative brides-to-be need look no farther than this hip, budget-friendly wedding planner. Khris Cochran, author of The DIY Bride and creator of DIYBride.com presents 40 original, affordable, and time-saving projects in the popular countdown format that brides on a deadline just can’t live without. You’ll find everything from edible, save-the-date cards and hand-stamped cocktail napkins to bead-and-lace bridal slippers, a feather boutonnière for the groom, and a super-cool “Just Married” sign. In her trademark straightforward style, Cochran carefully leads readers through each project and supplies spot-on tips and shortcuts. Four-color, step-by-step illustrations, easy-to-read templates, and pattern guides take the mystery out of creating these wedding keepsakes. Helpful sidebars provide time estimates, so savvy brides-to-be can plan out their projects and count down confidently to their special day.

Day 3 Giveaway A Day: Fiskars SureCut 12" Paper Cutter

UPDATE: Contest Closed. Congrats to winner kristind! Thank you to all who participated.

In honor of DIY Bride’s 8th anniversary, we’re celebrating with one giveaway a day from August 29 until September 29.

The quality of your paper cutter (and the sharpness of your blades) will make or break your invitations. My favorite portable trimmers (great for those of us with limited craft space) from Fiskars. I find that Fiskars’ trimmers are accurate, top quality, replacement blades are easy to find, and are economical to maintain for the long life of the unit.

Up for grabs today is the SureCut Recycled Titanium Portable 12″ Paper Trimmer from Fiskars. It features:

  • SureCut cut-line indicator allows you to quickly and easily align paper
  • Titanium-coated blade for extra lasting sharpness
  • Trimmer base made of 100-percent-recycled post-consumer resin
  • Precision-printed scale and grid to accurately align your project before cutting; high contrast for easy readability
  • Cutting capacity of 7 sheets of 20-pound copy paper
  • Cutting length of 12 inches
  • Swing-out arm increases measurements to 14-1/4 inches
  • Patented TripleTrack blades interlock with cutting rail for straighter cuts
  • Ergonomic high-profile carriage makes it easy to grip when cutting
  • Safe and easy blade removal (requires no tools)
  • Integrated paper clamp and smudge guard allows you to hold paper while cutting without making fingerprint marks
  • Pivot-open cutting rail allows for easy project placement
  • Lifetime warranty

Pretty spiffy, right? How to enter: Leave a comment to this post before 7 am September 01. One entry per person. Winner chosen by random drawing. Open to all.  Good luck!

Win Copies of The DIY Bride Books

Hey DIYers,

It feels like giveaway time! I’m giving away a very special prize: a copy of both of my books. That’s right, you can win 40 Fun Projects For Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding and The Crafty Countdown in one neat little package this time.

The DIY Bride Books

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Leave a comment to this post (posting comments to other posts is perfectly fine but won’t gain you the opportunity to win the prize).
  2. In your comment, tell me what kind of projects you’re planning on or hope to do.
  3. Enter by July 30th. On August 01, I’ll pick 2 winners at random.

The fine print:

  • I ask that only brides-to-be (and grooms, too) enter the contest, please. Since they’re the ones in the most need of the info & inspiration in the book, I strongly feel they’re the ones who should have the opportunity to win a copy.
  • Open to residents of the US, Canada, Australia/NZ, and the UK at this time.
  • One entry per person.

iPad Winner!

And we have a winner!

First, how the winner was determined: I went through each submission and verified the products existed, the pricing was correct, and the total amount was under $500. Each submission was checked for adherence to the contest rules. I then assigned each eligible entry a number. I used the integer generator at random.org to pick a random number within the range of # of eligible submissions. The lucky number generated was 16 which corresponded to the submission by jamietwilson.
