Quick Break
I’ll be MIA until next week for some much-needed relaxation. I understand there’s this big ball of fire at this place called “outside”. I’m off to investigate.

Happy July! It’s hard to grasp that we’re officially half-way through 2007. How’d that happen?
This month brings us one of the most popular wedding dates ever – 07/07/07. I understand Las Vegas and Atlantic City are being overrun with couples looking to cash in on that most luckiest of days. Good luck!
On the DIY Bride front, I’m devoting the month of July to a theme. We’re going green. I know a lot of hoopla was made about green/environmental-friendliness back in April to coincide with Earth Day. I wanted to hold back and sort through the hype and slick marketing to bring you the best projects, products, and resources for a low-impact wedding day. Check in throughout the month for articles and points of interest.
If you’re a green couple, I’d love to hear from you. Why’d you decide to go green? What are some of the things you’re doing? Got a hot tip to share with our readers? Give us a shout via the contact form at the top of the page.
In book news, I got to see a full-color layout of the DIY Bride book today. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am. It’s awesome!!! I think you’ll love how fun, fresh, and unique it is. The release date is January, 2008. (Only 6 months to go!)
As always, DIY Bride is looking for writers, contributors, and volunteers. If you have something to say, something to share, or some time to donate, let us know!

Hey, everyone. The downloads section is experiencing some problems and is unavailable. I’m working on a fix right now and will post an update when they’re ready to go. Sorry about that!

My humblest apologies for the extended downtime. The site was hacked sometime last week and I’ve had to go through and repair the damage in addition to all of the lovely, wonderfully, fabulously fun steps to help ensure it does not happen again. While we were down, I took the opportunity to reformat the site so it’s (quite) a bit different than if you had visited last week.
I know I’m going to get several emails asking where the downloads are, so here’s the scoop: they’re in the Forums area and YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO ACCESS THEM.
Have a peek around, enjoy yourself, and say hi if you have a chance.

DIYers, go grab a copy of the the June/July 2007 issue of Sew News magazine! The issue is dedicated to all-things-weddings and they have some fun and lovely ideas. (My personal favorite project is the chair covers.) Veils, ring pillows, gowns, reception decor are all featured and there’s some great info on fitting gowns (yours and your maids’).
And, before I forget, DIYBride.com gets a sweet little mention on page 96. Very cool!
Sew News can be found in bookstores, fabric stores, and online . This issue should be hitting stands right now.

Hiya DIYers,
The downloads area is spitting out some blank documents today. If you download a file and it’s blank when you open it, just throw it away. I’m working a fix and it should be done in about an hour. (Time now: 1:20 pm PST)
The problem has been fixed. Download your hearts out, guys.
If you happen to get a bad file, please let me know.

Yes, I know my updates have been a little, um, lax for the past several weeks. I do apologize. The holidays were hectic and the book took far more energy and resources than I ever expected. There was little time left for diybride but things are starting to change. The book is nearly done (waiting for some edits to come back) and the holiday insanity is now behind us. I can get back on track with the wholesome weddingy goodness that is DIYBride.
I’m working on new material for the site. I’ll be posting some video tutorials soon and there’s a whole bunch of new projects on the way in the coming weeks.
I’d love to hear from you about what you’d like to see. What kind of information, tutorials and projects are you in search of? Please use the handy-dandy contact form to let me know. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Here’s the scoop on what happened at DIYBride last week.
The forums were expanded to include more non-craft-related wedding topics. A vendors-only area was also added for wedding business owners to congregate and to learn about upcoming promotional opportunities.
For those of you with a sweet tooth, check out the Cocoa Room for fab dragees and candy.
