Stacy + Danny’s Bright Beachy Destination Wedding

Did you ever see a couple and just knew they were fun to be around? Meet Stacy and Danny. Their personality is as whimsical as their DIY. Their vision was to plan a “uniquely us” destination wedding on the beach in Florida while they were Argentina studying abroad. Let’s just say, that almost didn’t happen, but boy are we glad it did!

From the bride:

“What a roller coaster of changes this wedding was! Planning a wedding from Argentina is not recommended.. ” After planning a destination wedding in Florida from Argentina while studying abroad they found themselves without a venue and in their hometown of Phoenix. All these destination changes would be enough to make any bride’s head spin, but then there was an impending tornado. Luckily, with the help of Hammock Beach Resort, their bright attitudes, and some creative crafting not destination, nor threat of tornado can stop these two from having a candy coated beach wedding.

We have to thank Mark Dickinson Photography for weathering the storm and capturing the details that traveled so far to make this wedding special. Tricia + Will’s Vibrant Beach Wedding

Welcome to Valentine’s Week here on DIY Bride! We saved some of the prettiest, most romantic weddings for this special occasion. This week you’ll find lots of hearts, pretty florals, pink, red and, of course, plenty of DIY.

We are kicking things off with high school sweethearts Tricia and Will’s bright pink destination wedding in Florida. Even though they live in Ohio, they wanted to celebrate their wedding with a fun weekend surrounded by friends and family at one of their favorite vacation spots, Captiva Island.

The bride made a lot of the wedding details herself – including the fan programs, star fish place cards, “Love is Sweet” sign, and decorated the boxes for the cupcake favors.

During the reception, the couple and photographer Tonya Malay were able to sneak away and take some pictures against the beautiful sunset. So romantic!

Lauren + Brandon’s Vintage Picnic Wedding

Happy Monday, DIY-ers! Was there some kind of football game yesterday? I was too busy swooning over this pretty DIY wedding. I do love my job ….

Lauren and Brandon held their summer afternoon wedding at the church in Florida where they met. After their wedding they hosted a short casual reception at the church hall where they served desserts prepared by family and friends. The bride wanted a “vintage picnic” feel, so for decor the bride’s aunt made bunting from old pieces of fabric that had belonged to the bride’s “Mamaw” and they were displayed across a vintage desk which doubled as their welcome table.

Lauren’s grandfather made the ladder that served as the alter, and Lauren’s dad performed the ceremony.

For their guest “book,” the couple asked guests to sign river rocks they had collected over time.

Lauren even decorated her own TOMS shoes! Impressive!

After their reception, the couple and their photographer Ashley Daniell Photography headed to Three Rivers State Park for some AMAZING portraits of the bride and groom.

Did I mention puppies were involved? Oh yes – there were puppies.

Tabitha + Craig’s Detailed Destination Wedding

Tabitha and Craig are from Rhode Island but longed for a destination beach wedding where they could spend a fun weekend with their families. On September 15, 2012 (ahem … the best day of the year – my birthday – woo!), everyone traveled to Marco Island in Southern Florida and enjoyed an intimate wedding celebration with lots of personal, DIY details.

There’s so many details in this wedding, it will make your head spin! From the ring holder, to the programs, to the water bottle labels, to the table signs, this wedding is full of unique and personalized details and, in my opinion, those are the best kind of weddings!

The bride wrote their ceremony, made the programs, made the table numbers and decorated the frames, and designed the cookie jars and labels. Oh, did I mention this wedding featured a cookie dessert buffet?

Other DIY elements: Tabitha and her father made their wooden signs, a close friend performed the ceremony, and the bride’s mother incorporated Japanese lanterns into the decor to honor their heritage.

Oh, and as guests were being seated for the ceremony, a rainbow appeared in the sky. It doesn’t get much more magical than that!

Serena + William’s Florida Barn Wedding

Despite the crisp fall weather, Serena and William wanted to bring the feeling of Spring to their wedding day, and it seems they did just that! Using homemade burlap table runners and chalkboard mason jars, this couple created the rustic, vintage, garden wedding of which they dreamed. Throw in a clean white palette with pops of yellow, and you have instant sunshine (they are in Florida – The Sunshine State – after all)!

According to the bride, “We wanted every part of the day to be touched by our love, and for our guests to feel as special as us.”

That’s what it’s all about, people. The couple also handmade the monogrammed aisle runner, the burlap flower containers along the aisle, and paper flower garlands. Something also very special about this wedding – the same officiant married the bride’s parents 30 years prior! The bride offers up some very wise hindsight advice, too, so read on and enjoy the pretty pictures along the way!

From the bride: “William and I vowed to not separate from each other during the festivities, because we had seen so many other couple do it. Because of this vow, every moment of the day was a priceless memory with my husband. We shared tears and laughter in equal proportions!”

Bride’s Advice: “At the end of the day, the wedding is about marrying your best friend. Even the most perfectly planned detail can go wrong. And nothing you can do will change that. But when you look back, this is the day that begins your lifetime of memories. The day when your husband becomes your forever teammate. A day that can never be replaced.” Here, here!

Felicia + Jason’s Vintage Glam Engagement

Felicia and Jason wanted to do a vintage style engagement photo shoot and they put a lot of planning into their outfits and styling. The bride-to-be painstakingly acquired all the items for their gorgeous outfits, including his fedora and her fascinator and black gloves.

They took pictures with Carrie Wildes Photography all around Ybor, Florida, including inside a vintage shop called La France and at an old cigar factory. The brick roads and classic cars made for a perfect backdrop for this romantic photo shoot.
