Welcome to the weekend fellow crafties and wedding enthusiasts!  To start this party right let’s grab a nice cold Coke, and head to the beach for a late night bonfire!  If that sounds  good to you, then you’re going to love Teresa and Dustin’s wedding at The PostCard Inn just as much as I did.  Carrie Wildes Photography has captured some sweet DIY deets and moments that are sure to make you go coastal about weddings.

From the photographer:

Dustin wore khaki pants, tan vest, and a very cool tan fedora. Teresa was simply stunning in her lace gown and starfish necklace. They did a “first touch”, not first look:-) Such a sweet and priceless moment. They whispered I love you from each side of the “barn doors” where they were separated while holding hands on the side.

I love a good signature cocktail.  But when the signature cocktail doubles as your inspiration for your centerpieces and toasting glass; I am loving it even more!  The burlap and shell bouts and table coverings offset the venue, coral and turquoise color scheme, and setting so well to add hint of vintage to the fabulous fall Florida day.  Be sure to check out the whole gallery for some fun on the beach, hot rod trucks, and a precious pearl bracelet.  Thanks Carrie Wildes Photography, and congrats Teresa and Dustin!  Thank you for sharing your day with us!

Faith and Jared’s Colorful Cliff top Wedding

Faith and Jared’s Colorful Cliff-top Wedding

I must be in vacation mode.  Travel weddings are flying all around this week!  Studio Sequoia has shared with us the brilliantly bright wedding of Faith and Jared.  Held at Calumet Park in San Diego overlooking the Pacific, the whimsical beachy vibe of this wedding speaks volumes of this couple’s super sweet personality.  (and so does the scrum-didily-umptious dessert table!) Whether you’re looking at the DIY or the look in their eyes, one thing is for sure it’s destination…love!

Keeping up with this week’s travel theme, I love Faith’s perfect posy created from maps of destinations she and Jared have traveled together.  Such a great idea! It could make for a fantastic anniversary bouquet too, since she can continue to add to it now that they have moved to England for Jared’s new military pilot job.

Stacy + Danny's Bright Beachy Wedding

Stacy + Danny’s Bright Beachy Destination Wedding

Did you ever see a couple and just knew they were fun to be around?  Meet Stacy and Danny.  Their personality is as whimsical as their DIY.   Their vision was to plan a “uniquely us” destination wedding on the beach in Florida while they were Argentina studying abroad.  Let’s just say, that almost didn’t happen, but boy are we glad it did!

From the bride:

“What a roller coaster of changes this wedding was! Planning a wedding from Argentina is not recommended.. :) ”  After planning a destination wedding in Florida from Argentina while studying abroad they found themselves without a venue and in their hometown of Phoenix.  All these destination changes would be enough to make any bride’s head spin, but then there was an impending tornado.  Luckily, with the help of Hammock Beach Resort, their bright attitudes, and some creative crafting not destination, nor threat of tornado can stop these two from having a candy coated beach wedding.

{Product Review} Stylish and Sensible Sandals from Fibi & Clo

Product Review Disclosure
DIY Bride was compensated for this review with products from Fibi & Clo.  We firmly stand behind our review and recommendation, and are committed to promoting only those companies we feel offer our community excellent products, ethical business practices, and outstanding customer service.

This week we’re featuring sandals from Fibi & Clo.  These sandals would make the perfect footwear for a beachy bride and her bridesmaids.  And, at less than $50 per pair, Fibi & Clo sandals might make the perfect gift for your shoe-obsessed b’maids.

Fibi & Clo started designing these stylish sandals in 2009, and up until recently, you could only purchase them through an in-home party or fashion agent.  You can still have a Fibi & Clo shoe party if there is an agent in your area, but if not, you can shop the entire inventory online at fibiandclo.com.  After having the chance to try a pair for myself, I can confirm the rumors about these sandals.  They ARE cute, inexpensive, and comfortable.  The styles are surprisingly versatile, too.

The styles that Fibi & Clo design – especially the popular black cascade style – are easily dressed up or dressed down.  I can see a relaxed (and comfortable!) bride wearing these at the wedding ceremony, and I can also see her wearing them all night long on the dance floor.  She’ll even wear the sandals on her honeymoon, too!  The black cascade style features smokey gemstones that are definitely eye-catching yet still neutral enough to match whatever you wear. The gemstones are surrounded by a ring of tiny pearls and rhinestones to provide just the right amount of elegance and bling.

fibi & clo / black cascade

I’m certainly not a fashion expert, but when it comes to shoes, I am quite the connoisseur.  My background in shoe sales gives me enough insight to know when a shoe is really and truly comfortable and well made.  So, from a shoe-obsessed standpoint, I found that the sandals run slightly small.  Don’t be afraid to go up a half size.  I ordered a 10, and I have wide feet.  The shoes might fit me slightly better if they came in a wide width, but they are still 100% comfortable in the regular width.  The soles of the sandals are more substantial than most dress sandals, so there is a little extra shock absorption and cushion than you might expect.  In terms of quality, the construction of the sandals is solid and durable; however, the beading on the straps is obviously done by hand and isn’t perfect.  I would anticipate losing a bead or gemstone before the sandal itself would break.

fibi & clo / black cascade

Overall, Fibi & Clo sandals offer the perfect combination of style and comfort and durability for under $50.  They are ideal for the bride who prefers the comfort of a flat shoe over heels but doesn’t want to sacrifice on style.  These sandals would also make great bridesmaids gifts, and all the girls could wear matching styles at the wedding.  What I like most about wearing Fibi & Clo as your bridal shoes is that you will get to wear these sandals again and again, and you’ll probably end up a fan for life.

Here are few of my favorite styles.  Which ones could you see yourself wearing?

I hope you’ll head on over to fibiandclo.com today and pick out your first pair of these cute, comfortable, and affordable sandals…just in time for warmer weather!!!

When you place your order, be sure to tell them DIY Bride sent you!

Tricia + Will’s Vibrant Beach Wedding

Welcome to Valentine’s Week here on DIY Bride!  We saved some of the prettiest, most romantic weddings for this special occasion.  This week you’ll find lots of hearts, pretty florals, pink, red and, of course, plenty of DIY.

Tricia + Will's Vibrant Beach Wedding

We are kicking things off with high school sweethearts Tricia and Will’s bright pink destination wedding in Florida.  Even though they live in Ohio, they wanted to celebrate their wedding with a fun weekend surrounded by friends and family at one of their favorite vacation spots, Captiva Island.

Tricia + Will's Vibrant Beach Wedding

The bride made a lot of the wedding details herself – including the fan programs, star fish place cards, “Love is Sweet” sign, and decorated the boxes for the cupcake favors.

During the reception, the couple and photographer Tonya Malay were able to sneak away and take some pictures against the beautiful sunset.  So romantic!

Tabitha + Craig's Detailed Destination Wedding

Tabitha + Craig’s Detailed Destination Wedding

Tabitha and Craig are from Rhode Island but longed for a destination beach wedding where they could spend a fun weekend with their families.  On September 15, 2012 (ahem … the best day of the year – my birthday – woo!), everyone traveled to Marco Island in Southern Florida and enjoyed an intimate wedding celebration with lots of personal, DIY details.

Tabitha + Craig's Detailed Destination Wedding

There’s so many details in this wedding, it will make your head spin!  From the ring holder, to the programs, to the water bottle labels, to the table signs, this wedding is full of unique and personalized details and, in my opinion, those are the best kind of weddings!

Tabitha + Craig's Detailed Destination Wedding

The bride wrote their ceremony, made the programs, made the table numbers and decorated the frames, and designed the cookie jars and labels.  Oh, did I mention this wedding featured a cookie dessert buffet?

Other DIY elements: Tabitha and her father made their wooden signs, a close friend performed the ceremony, and the bride’s mother incorporated Japanese lanterns into the decor to honor their heritage.

Oh, and as guests were being seated for the ceremony, a rainbow appeared in the sky.  It doesn’t get much more magical than that!
