Free Download: Cupcake Wrapper

Posted by Khris in DIY Projects & Tutorials, Food + Catering

This is one of our most popular requests recently: a cupcake wrapper. What is it? It’s a band of paper that wraps around the outside of a cupcake.

Sorry for the messy picture. I had 5 minutes and an iPhone to get it done today. Ugh!

Instructions:

1. Download the template here

2. Print it onto a piece of cardstock

3. Cut it out and use it to trace the shape onto paper. You can fit multiple wrappers on a single sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ paper.

4. Cut out your shapes.

5. Use strong double-sided tape to adhere the cardstock

6. Decorate to your liking

Tips + Hints:

  • Linear patterns like lines and plaid don’t work very well because the template is curved. It’ll look wonky.
  • Use decorative scissors to cut out the top of the wrapper to add a bit of pizazz.
  • Paper punches are great for adding a little extra cuteness, too.

Very cute. Would be super cute if you punched out using a border punch first at the top – to add a scallop or lace type look. Great idea to DIY!!

What a great idea! Those fancy laser cut cupcake holders, ala` Martha are too pricey too just get gooked up and thrown away!

Love these, but one question! Can I use them in the oven?? Someone told me that as long as I’m not heating the oven over 450 degrees, I could. But HOW?? anyone?

I would strongly advise against it. The wrappers are meant to be purely decorative, placed on the finished cupcake after it’s baked.

This jpg doesn’t print out the right size (way too big & off the paper). What am I doing wrong?

    Re: wrong size printed.

I’m not sure, ladies. It may have something to do with your printer settings. What program(s) are you trying to print from?

    1. Make sure you’ve saved the template to your desktop. Don’t try to print from the browser window.

    2. If you have a print preview window with whatever program you’re printing with, check that out. Look for the option to scale to fit to the page, select that and make sure your printer is set to print on 8.5″ x 11″ paper.
