The Amazing, The Wonderful, Lover.ly
Hi, my name is Jessica and I have a “pinning” problem. Since the day I signed up for Pinterest, I have been creating boards and pinning like crazy. I was asked to try out a new site that was similar to Pinterest, but catered to weddings exclusively. The site is lover.ly and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS this was not around when I was wedding planning. A lot more money would have been spent and many more hours of DIY projects would have ensued. It’s pretty sad when you’ve been happily married for 3 years, have a 20-month-old daughter, and you keep creating new wedding boards for your imaginary wedding. Maybe someday I’ll put all this to good use and help my daughter plan her wedding. Anyways, where was I? Oh, right I was reviewing lover.ly.
You can basically just type in what you are looking for and hundreds of images appear. You can add them to your “bundle” to keep them for reference later or you can just “Love” an image if it doesn’t fit one of your boards but it’s just to beautiful to let pass by.
I was able to make 2 inspiration boards within 15 minutes and have my entire imaginary ceremony planned, from the color scheme to the bridesmaids gifts. It is incredibly easy to use and super user friendly. Below is a screen shot to show you just how simplistic it is set up. Also, just look how cute their logo is..they had me swooning the second their homepage loaded.
One of my favorite things about lover.ly is the search by color feature. This completely simplifies things. So if you already have your color scheme all selected you just click on the color and hundreds of beautiful pictures appear on your screen. Things you weren’t even searching for will come up, things you never thought of will come up, and beautiful must haves for you wedding will come…all thanks to that little color swatch you clicked on.
Want to share your inspiration board with your bridesmaids? They have thought of that as well. You can currently share via Facebook, Twitter, or email. You can also keep your boards private if you don’t want anyone seeing what you’ve been pinning.
Another thing I really liked about it was that when you clicked on a picture, it actually brought you to the original source of the picture, which was usually a blog that had tons of other pictures to look through…unlike Pinterest.
Overall, I give lover.ly an A+ and would completely recommend it to a friend.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for recommending http://lover.ly! Big new things coming soon to the site soon... xoxo
Please keep me posted on all the changes!!
I am so proud I was one of the very first Lover.ly users. It was a major inspiration for my wedding planning and I still love to browse through it and make bundles. I am so thrilled for all of their success and excited that DIY Bride is now a Lover.ly partner. I can't wait to see what this awesome site has in store.
Thank you so much for the high praise! So glad you've come to love the inspiration engine :)
lover.ly is an outstanding concept, implemented beautifully.
It is indeed a huge resource for inspiration! I could not praise it enough
