“With Colin’s guidance, every bride will succeed in discovering what her own special idea of a dream wedding is and how to make it come true … within budget. In addition to covering all the logistics, from creating the guest list to booking a fantasy honeymoon, Colin provides his signature design tips and time-tested advice for both bride AND groom. And the book–which brides can customize with their very own cover photo–makes organization simple and stress-free, thanks to two sturdy storage envelopes, a one-year calendar, a business-card holder, seating-chart and guest-list templates, and vendor fill-in lists!”

DIY brides are typically very involved in planning every detail of the affair   Wedding planners can cost a lot of money, but they can save you money, too.  I generally recommend hiring a day-of coordinator – they are very affordable and totally worth every penny. Regardless of whether or not you work with a planner, coordinator, or go solo, Colin Cowie’s wedding planner is a must-have bible that every bride deserves.  It’s got everything, and I mean everything.

The basic features:

  • Comprehensive checklist, built for a 9-month timeline, but easily adjustable for any timeline
  • Wedding budget
  • Guest list
  • Seating charts
  • Registry checklist
  • Contact info for vendors
  • 12-month calendar
  • Sturdy construction

The extra features:

  • Solid advice from Colin Cowie throughout each planning stage, including “Life as Mr. and Mrs.”
  • By-the-hour schedule template for the big day (just like the pros use!)
  • Plenty of room to add your own goodies to the binder
  • Storage envelopes for holding samples (so you can take the binder with you everywhere!)
  • Business card holder
  • It’s pretty!

I scour wedding planner checklists and binders all the time, just to see if I can find one that has missed nothing, one that covers all the bases, and one that has a realistic timeline.  Sadly, it’s hard to find a perfect checklist, and there is always some level of adjusting required.  But, this new wedding planner from Colin Cowie really has me impressed.

“The When, the Where, and the Who”

Colin gives great advice throughout the entire planner.  He says when you’re dreaming up your ideal wedding, just brainstorm all the things you wish for and pare down from there.  Spend a weekend alone with just you and the groom and describe the wedding of you dreams.  This is when you’ll start to see a theme or two emerging, and once that happens, it’s easier to know exactly what you want and don’t want at your wedding.  Colin also provides solid bridesmaids gift ideas, tips on thank you notes, and a simple wedding budget breakdown.

The only thing that you won’t find in Colin Cowie’s wedding planner is DIY tutorials and project timelines.  You’ll still need to work in a custom schedule for any DIY projects, but Colin’s timeline gives you an idea of when you’re projects should be finished, as if you were not DIY-ing them.  So, with a little imagination, it becomes easy to adapt Colin’s wedding planner for a 100% DIY wedding.

All too often, I see crucial details missed when brides go solo on the wedding planning front – things like timing the food correctly, coordinating transportation of guests from the ceremony to reception, or making sure the photographer captures every image and detail of your day.  Don’t miss a single detail!  You can hire a professional wedding planner or day-of coordinator, but with a wedding organizer like this, you’ll be ahead of the game.

You will literally take this binder with you everywhere you go…from craft stores to bridal appointments.

I gladly give my highest recommendation!
