Heber + Lindsey
Heber and Lindsey had their wedding in one of my favorite places in the world – San Juan Island. Tucked up north, just off the coast of Washington and within sight of Canada, this part of the Northwest is jaw-dropping stunning. Lindsey and Heber’s wedding on the hotel lawn is a perfect fit for the venue – elegant, understated, and full of charm and warmth. The DIY elements of these nuptials are almost too numerous to list; the couple did everything from letterpressing their invites themselves to creating a belt for the bride’s dress, crafting and sewing all the decor (including table runners, ceremony arbor, votive candle holders, chalkboard signs) and the jam favors.

This truly was a DIY family affair with so many family and friends lending a hand and their talents to make our wedding day so special! My mom had a hand in almost everything including making all of the bunting banners, the table runners, transforming regular votives to look like mercury glass, making jam for favors (with berries picked by my mother in-law), making Texas sheet cake for the cake table, spending countless hours helping letterpress all of the invites and so much more. My dad built the arbor we were married under and addressed all of the invites and place cards by hand. A family friend helped turn the broach my grandmother wore on her wedding day into a belt, used the lace from my mom’s veil to make mine and added the appliques to my shoes. My cousin provided the flower girl dresses and made all of the head wreaths for them to wear. Friends constructed and painted the corn hole boards, another friend sewed all of the bean bags and the groom made all the chalk board signs. Aunts and cousins helped assemble programs and lavender for tossing. It really does take a village to pull off a wedding on within budget!
We are also really thankful that we had Emily with Manette Gracie Events and Roche Harbor Weddings there to pull it all together so that after all of that work everyone could relax and enjoy the wedding day. And a huge shout out to Jenny Wohrle for capturing every detail beautifully.
