My name is Khris and I’m a crafter, wedding guru, author, small business owner, and all-around swell gal based in the Silicon Valley.I’m deeply involved in the wedding and crafting industries. For the past several years, I’ve been operating DIY Bride, this free online wedding resource for do-it-yourself couples. My first DIY wedding crafts book, The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding, was released in January 2008 through The Taunton Press. I look forward to writing more craft and wedding books. And maybe a cookbook in there somewhere. I love what I do and am grateful to have these awesome opportunities.
My personal philopophy about weddings is this: you can have an amazing wedding on any budget. It takes some time to plan, a willingness to do some research, and lots of help. But it can be done and done well!
I think DIY weddings have gotten a bad rap as being kinda tacky, doe-eyed-child-tchotchke-laden (you know which ones I’m talking about!) affairs. I’m evangelical about changing that image. My mission is to show you how elegant, whimsical, chic, modern, gorgeous, and fun a DIY wedding can be.
I am delighted to support and promote the DIY and craft communities, small business, organic/green/socially responsible business, and ethical wedding businesses.
