DIY Bride Wants To Know: What Are Your Favors?

I’m making little chocolate hearts in our wedding colors. There will be 3 per bag. One will be a white chocolate heart colored pink, one will be a white chocolate heart colored green, and one will be a milk chocolate heart.
My partner and I made 96-4 ounce jars of blackberry jam. We picked the berries in the park that we are going to get married in next summer.
The plan right now is to nix the traditional favor. Instead, we will probably donate $$ to a charity and give each guest a card stating the name of the charity.
We’re giving tea bags and Penguins, which are a kind of British cookie. I was introduced to the Tim-Tam-Penguin-Slam during a trip to Wales (it’s basically a fun way to dip your biscuit in your tea), and we’re going to include the instructions with the tea and biscuits.
We had Jones Soda bottles that we made ourselves, mix cds, and 1 inch buttons.

We will be giving cotton totes printed with FOREVER AND EVER AFTER in the same font as our stationary.
We were thinking about little jars of homemade jam. My mom always made it when I was growing up and I thought it would be something fun that we could do together before the wedding.
I’m getting a photobooth and I’m also giving out little 2×2x2 boxes filled with M&M’s as our favor to them.
I’m heavily tattooed and my fiance plays his electric guitar for hours per day. We’re doing custom temporary tattoos and custom guitar picks for our favors!
since we’re trying to incorporate antique buttons throughout the wedding (I fell in love with button bouquets and have tins and tins full of old buttons), our favors are going to be candy buttons (my sister found spectacular candy button molds) in little aluminum tins, which will be hand painted by my mom to look like old fashioned button tins.
I’ve been collecting vintage tea cups from ebay and thrift shops and will be using them as favors. Inside will be a personalized monogramed tea bag, truffles, and gold teaspoon. They are wrapped in shear fabric and tied with a satin ribbon and DIY tag stamped with “thank you” on the front and a handwritten note of thanks on the back. My wonderful fiance is helping with the notes so that they are in both our handwriting. Our families have been gracious enough to help with all my DIY projects by coming to 2 seperate assembly parties to get everything done.
We are giving our guests multiple sclerosis awareness bracelets (in memory of my grandpa) and M&Ms in our wedding colors.
Seedlings. I couldn’t afford to order them, so I will be sprouting them in egg cups and transplanting them to either thrifted coffee/teacups or tiny flower pots. I have yet to decide.
I’m also doing sugar cookies, flooded with royal icing and then I’m going to use a damask stamp (or maybe my gocco) to ink a damask pattern with our monogram in the middle on them with food coloring.
I make mustaches on sticks, little props for pictures…. so I’m making a different one for each place setting. Also, the escort cards are going to be origami finger fortunes that will reveal what table people are sitting at. Those will double as favors as well.
I plan on making Golf Balls. They’re a homemade chocolate peanut buttery candy that have always been one of my very favorites. I want to make my own little candy boxes and put 3 or 4 in each. There are several reasons I want to do this, both my grandmother and her sister used to make these and bring them to family reunions, they were one of the highlights of the desserts. Both my grandmother and great aunt passed away within the last couple years and having these feels like a way of honoring them, as well as sharing with the guests something of my childhood.

We bought miniature lucky cats and attached cards we made with the cat on one side and one of the legends of the maneki neko on the other:

I’m giving out small jars with a drink mix for horchata- a drink that is usually made in our countries in Central America..ea jar will have a homemade label with instructions on how to mix..I thought it would be cute since my fiance and I met on my first weekend working at my aunts store..the sale of that little bag was what got us talking..
My fiance and I both love bake, so with the help of some of our wedding party, we are going to make tons of cookies in 4-6 different varieties, and have a cookie bar with take away favor bags in our colors.
My fiance and I are using little organza bags on our candy buffet so that guests can take a treat home with them! We both love candy and I wanted to carry our blog name (which are our nicknames for each other) through to our wedding somehow. I’ve ordered 100 tiny spoons to sew onto the “thank you” tags that will be on the organza bags.
We’ve made a stamp with our initials, and we’ll be stamping Chinese take out boxes and have them placed at each seat for our guests, and a candy station in one of the corners for folks to fill up with lots and lots of sugar.
We enjoyed a lobster boil at our wedding and decided to provide each guest with an actual fancy cloth apron instead of the plastic bib provided by the caterer. We have some of the greatest pictures of all the wedding guests wearing white aprons over their dresses and siuts. It was hilarious and practical! We had intended to dress up the bride/groom/wedding party aprons with embroidery or bowties or faux pearls, but ran out of time in the end.
I was thinking of making little Mexican Wedding Cakes as favors, but then I thought of my Vegan and Celiac friends, so i decided to make little jars of pepper jelly instead, to go along with custom tote bags. Its sweet and spicy!
My fiance and I have discussed two options: 1. stress balls with a funny little quote about how stressful weddings can be
2. a cookbook put together with cardstock with a few special family recipes. We haven’t decided yet!
My wedding is in December, so we are making homemade hot cocoa mix and putting it into little 4 oz mason jars. I designed retro style stickers for the top that include the directions for making the cocoa.
We’re doing a DIY photo booth and mini moon pies with apple stickers and our name and wedding date on them.
Mini Maracas which will be an escort card, and gift. As well as white mini-Gideon bibles with a bookmark as well as a little note from us.
The Bible, because it is truly the most important thing in our lives and we want to share it especially for those who don’t have one. I hope they at least take it – if they don’t read it, its okay but maybe when they really need it – it’ll be there.

We gave away s’mores kits to use during the bon fire and individually boxed cupcakes with the cupcake recipe printed on the top of the box.
Since we’re both avid readers, bookmarks seem most appropriate.
We’re making Nut Cups… they’re like bite-sized pecan pies that my mom’s side of the family has been making for generations. We’re using pecans from the old nut trees on his family’s land.
I am planning on having mason jars for drinking glasses. Each jar with have a sticker with our wedding date and names. My plan is for each guest to have a jar throughout the night, then keep the jar as a favor. Also, my future mother in law is making a Puerto Rican party favor called Capias, which she is making by hand usinging lace, printed ribbon and charms. It will be lovely! One blessing out of all of this is connecting with my mother-in-law throught crafts.
We used chocolate bars and wrapped them with movie poster labels that I photoshopped out faces onto. It seems a little wacky but it was really fun.

we are making mini terariums. Using 4″ bubble vases and I found a great supplier online to order flats of succulants. We are going to plant them with sand dirt and rocks. Our tag with it will have istructions on up keep and it will be personalized with our monogram and say,”These plants will grow with love and care like our love”.
We gave olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We got some small glass bottles with corks, and filled them with extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar (my father-in-law distributes these items so they were very good quality). I designed labels for the two bottles, and we put them in a little mesh bag. We tied tags onto the ribbons on the bags saying Thank You, and we also included the guest’s name.
I am doing a candy buffet. I have about 15 different kinds of candy in my wedding colors and I am putting them in different shaped clear glass containers. I love candy!
We (mainly my mother) are making coasters from loads of different, beautiful, craft (scrapbooking) paper we found and decoupaging it onto plain, white tiles. I found this on SMP and so far they’re turning out great. We’re making a set of four coasters for each family or couple at our celebration. Can’t wait!
We’re doing gormet meltaways (espresso, peanut butter and raspberry — 1 of each) in bags tied closed with brown, cream and rust ribbon. The chocolatier we are buying the meltaways from is a local company and they sell blemished bags of meltaways (although you can hardly tell they’re wrong) in large bags for $5. I estimate we’ll spend less than $30 for favors for 130 guests. And we get to share our favorite chocolates!

Purple Haze beer. We love beer, purple (actually, eggplant) is one of our wedding colors, and we thought that it was fun and different.
My fiancé is a chef who specializes in local sustainable food. Naturally, this involves a lot of canning, since you can’t get fresh food locally in anything but its local season. Since it’s something we already do, we’re probably going to do jams and pickles. Our (current) color scheme is black and white and yellow, so it will probably be a yellow jam (lemon marmalade?) and lemon cucumber pickles.
We are going with M&M’s in Delft Blue colors in little screw top old fashioned candy jars (the kind you can set up right or tilted on a side). The jars are a hint to my grandfather who used to have a candy store.
For our out-of-townies I’m packing totes with essentials: water bottles, snacks, bus tickets and self made maps of the city with places I like and know.
We’re giving out three different types of cookies in small chinese take out boxes. There will be 3 chocolate chip, 3 peanut butter, and 3 sugar cookies with our wedding logo stamped into them!
My wedding will be a cocktail party in Las Vegas. My partner and his friends are poker players so I’m pulling together some poker themed items for the gift bags: playing cards, chocolate poker chips, and matchboxes with bottled water and mints. I’ll use playing cards as the gift tags.

My fiancee and I are folding 1000 paper cranes for our Christmas wedding next year. We are planning on decorating a crane for each guest with beads for eyes and a satin ribbon with a gift tag with our names and the date of our wedding hanging around the crane’s neck. We will then hang the cranes on a Christmas tree near the guest book.
We are having a racing themed reception because my fiance is a drag racer, so we are putting a Hot Wheels muscle car into little boxes with candy for a little surprise and a treat!
I am making four kinds of biscotti (two with nuts and two without) because we live in and are marrying in Seattle, which is famous for coffee. There should be enough for the adults to take two each. I was thinking of chocolate chip cookies for the kids, but maybe I’ll do muffins since I was thinking of the biscotti as something to have with morning coffee.
We made chocolate covered pretzels for all our guests. We hand dipped a ton of pretzels. Then we put them in little paper food bags with stickers on them that had our beach scene from our invitations printed on it and they said “Katie and Andy tie the knot”.
My daughter is giving handmade bird ornaments we found on Etsy. 100% of the cost goes to breast cancer research.
