The DIY Bride Book Giveaway #2

Published by DIY Bride at 11:11 pm under Contests

Hey DIYers! I know I was supposed to write about cool new features this week but some database woes and a rush job for a client have sucked up some of that precious posting time. As a consolation for no new stuff this week, I’m giving away two copies of my book, The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects For Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding.
I won’t make you send in your sad tales of crafting gone wrong this time. Just post a comment below by Sunday, Jan. 20. I’ll randomly pick the winners from the pool of entries on Monday morning.

Not sure what to say in the comment? Say hi. Offer some advice. Tell me a knock-knock joke. Whatev. It’s cool. [Oh! Be sure to include your real email address in the comment form. (It doesn't show up in the comments.) I'll need it to contact you if you're a winner.]

[EDIT JAN 21: COMMENTS NOW CLOSED.]

Here’s a joke: The optimist says the glass is half full, the pessimist says the glass is half empty, the engineer says the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

So a pirate walks into a bar, sits down and orders a drink. While making the drink the bartended noticed the pirate had a steering wheel down his pants. So he asks him, “What’s with the steering wheel in your pants?”

    And the pirate answers…

“Yargh, I don’t know, but it’s driving me nuts.”

Oh goodie! I just got engaged in December, and the book would be an amazing aid!

No knock-knock joke, I just got in from playing in the SNOW! (um…I’m in SC. Less than three inches gets us out of classes for the day. I may be in college, but hey, it was fun!)

Oooh! I want one!! I’ve been checking for a post all week! :-)

  21. Staceyon 17 Jan 2008 at 1:35 pm

Hi! I love the site. Here’s my shameless DIY idea for my fall 2008 wedding: since I don’t want to rent glasses and tableware, and since I love POM tea (that comes in the glass with the snap-on lid) so much, I’m going to save all my POM tea glasses between now and November, and just use those instead of rented stemware. I’m even thinking of writing the POM company and asking for coupons in exchange for the free advertising.

  22. Moni Roseon 17 Jan 2008 at 1:45 pm

I am joyfully distracting during the daytime hours viewing your blog computer-side, but a cup of tea, a quilt, and looking through a good book with my maid-of-honor (and also soon to be bride) is oh-so-much more delightful!

  23. Dmh0922on 17 Jan 2008 at 2:01 pm

Nice site…always looking for great DIY ideas to make my wedding day extra special and save on costs at the same time!

  24. Marriahon 17 Jan 2008 at 2:16 pm

I would love to win a copy of your new book! I’m probably crazy for doing as much as I already am for my wedding. But hey, I’ve come to terms with my addiction problem…and will get help for it — after the wedding!! ;)

  31. melissaon 17 Jan 2008 at 4:33 pm

i totally COVET your book. i love DIY and need to figure out how to cut every corner i can in order to pay for my wedding…basically by myself. but it will be rewarding when i am able to come up with creative homemade solutions that will really showcase my personality.

  32. Kristaon 17 Jan 2008 at 4:34 pm

Even if I don’t win the book, I have to tell you that I absolutely LOVE this site! I’ve been really turned off by all the traditional wedding sites I’ve found, feeling like I’m falling into a trap of generic, over-priced wedding hoopla. This site is everything I’ve been looking for. So glad to hear there are other brides like me out there, and that we’re not all super-crazed bridezillas! (of course, a fabulous new book would dial up my love for this site even more ;-)

  33. kristinon 17 Jan 2008 at 7:58 pm

woah, free cool books??? i’m in!! especially for a book from a person with such great ideas!!

  34. Kristinaon 17 Jan 2008 at 10:28 pm

At the moment I am working full time on my graduate degree. But when I finish in May, I plan to stimulate my brain in a different, more creative way by trying my hand at some new crafts, several of which will be for my wedding later this year. In the meantime, I read your blog when I’m taking a break and dream about fun projects in my future!

  35. Ericaon 17 Jan 2008 at 10:52 pm

thanks for the opportunity! i feel like an amateur bride as i plan this wedding. i need all the help i can get!

I’m DYING for crafty ideas. My Ginghers and my Singer are aching for some fabric, my glue gun is lusting after blingy goodness, and my knitting needles are dreaming of creating anything, ANYTHING other than a long, straight, scarf – for once.

I’m in dire need of inspiration. Please help?

  37. Saraon 18 Jan 2008 at 1:06 am

Thank you for creating and organizing such an inspiring and helpful site!
